elton Available Lens Materials and Colors

The single most important element of any optical system is the lens. elton's technically advanced lenses offered in sports optics. Only ophthalmic quality polarized lenses are used to make elton Polarized Sunglasses. These lenses are of the same quality used in prescription eye glasses. Ophthalmic quality lenses have true curves and are free of distortion and aberration. elton Polarized Lenses are the most effective polarizers available.

elton Polarized lenses are made by a special process which places an ultra-thin optical filter of polarizing film within the lens itself. This protects the filter from any damage and allows the lens to be ground and polished. This careful grinding and polishing of the lens produces exacting spherical curvatures which results in a clear, distortion-free lens.

elton Polarized Lenses block all UVB and UVA light. Ultra-Violet radiation is that light which causes not only sunburn, but can also harm the human eye; contributing to the deterioration of vision. Research has linked Ultra-Violet rays to the development of cataracts (clouding of the lens), as well as other degenerative conditions in the eye.

Lens Materials

Glass - Glass is the most stable material available for producing precise optics. Once the glass has been ground and polished it is tempered by a special ion transfer process, which hardens the lens. Glass is also more scratch resistant than plastic lenses. This can be very important to the sportsmen who many times find the need to clean salt water, dirt or mud from their glasses. However a glass lens can crack if dropped.

CR-39 - CR-39 is a special polymer developed for use in eyeglasses. It is estimated that in the U.S. today, over 90% of all eyeglasses use plastic lenses. CR-39 makes excellent polarized lenses and has a cost and weight advantage over glass. The elton CR-39 polarized lens uses a harden polymer which makes the lens scratch resistant. CR-39 polarized lenses can be used in all of our frames.

Polycarbonate - Polycarbonate is the lightest of the lens materials. It is very tough and can withstand a hammer blow without breaking. The elton Polycarbonate Polarized lens is hard coated to make it scratch resistant. The elton Wraptor comes with the polycarbonate lens, making it a strong lightweight sunglass.

Lens Colors

elton Polarized Sunglasses are available in three basic colors, each with its own distinct advantage. Choose between Grey, Bronze, or Eagle.

Grey

Grey - is an excellent all-around color for sunglasses. Since it is a neutral color, it allows the full range of visible light colors to be seen. Grey is available in Glass, CR-39, and Polycarbonate.

Bronze

Bronze - (Brown Copper) is an excellent color for sight fishing since it enhances the contrast and definition while not substantially altering color. Bronze is available in Glass, CR-39, and Polycarbonate

Eagle - (Brown Amber, Blue Blocking) is our best high definition lens. It is excellent for early morning, late afternoon, cloudy or hazy conditions. A great lens for fly fishing. Eagle is available in CR-39 only

elton Polarized Sunglasses enhance all outdoor activities. They are simply the best sun lens there is. Eliminating reflected glare gives all sportsmen an advantage they can see. Fishermen can see the action beneath the water's surface. Hunters can see into the brush and trees better now that the glare from the leaves is gone. Skiers can gauge the depth of the moguls and differentiate contrast in the shadows. Golfers can pick up the ball in flight quicker and read greens more accurately. Eliminating the glare benefits all outdoor activity whether it be fishing, boating, driving, hiking, biking, playing sports, or just laying around the pool.
